7 Interesting Things About Me

Breaking from my regular format for a sec...I think this is an interesting little experiment. It'd be cool to see who else follows suit.

I have a few blogs that I follow and enjoy. This came via one of my favorites A Choice of Weapons http://achoiceofweapons.blogspot.com/ (I definitely recommend, Jaycee has some great topics). I credit the original idea back to Assertive Wit (which is another good one) http://assertivewitwithatouchofsarcasm.blogspot.com/

Here are 7 interesting things about me that you may or may not know...

1. Since this is a blog and you don't get the benefit of my voice...I talk really, really (really!) fast...which is why I think the Guinness Record I'm going to try to break will be for the world's fastest talker (I think the current record is a little over 600 a minute reading from a specific text... I can do almost 450 with no practice)

2. I used to live in London as part of a semester abroad program and worked for the British government doing PR for one of the third parties during the elections.

3. Speaking of jobs...when I lived in Las Vegas I had a second job at a Vegas wedding chapel (you haven't lived until you've seen an Elvis wedding...lol).

4. I was born after a bomb threat--my mom was miltary at the time and someone called in a bomb threat...that's apparently when I decided to jump ship

5. I've had the same best friend for 30 years! That's hard to come by nowadays

6. A few years ago I was in the contestant pool for The Weakest Link

7. I've been told on more than one occassion that I am "not normal" because I don't have a fear of anything...not heights, public speaking, snakes, bugs (not that I am particularly a fan of the last two...lol)--I am slightly clausterphobic though.

New Goals #155-162

You know given everything that's happened within the last year not just to me but to everyone around me and others, I'm really starting to grasp how important it is to just let go of some things and make this list happen. Life is meant to be enjoyed and we should take nothing for granted. So I'm going to be more ambitious with knocking goals off and also setting the bar higher...said I figured out some more things I want to do

Here are my newest list items:

  • journal/write or blog everyday for a straight month
  • make a "life soundtrack" (this is actually going to be difficult because I am a music junkie)
  • name a star after myself or someone else
  • put together a book of inspirational and/or funny quotes
  • build a house with Habitat
  • take a (fun) class I never thought of taking
  • win the lottery for over $100

Oh yeah and I'll take a challenge. If you think of anything I should add...comment. Make it fun...make it count. Game on.

New MTV show...

I don't normally post in this blog back to back, but I actually forgot to post this earlier...

I'm not a huge fan of Mtv, but starting next Monday (I believe it's at 10p) they're airing a new show called The Buried Life

If you haven't seen the promo...the gist of the show is 4 guys going across country trying to knock stuff off their bucket list. Part of the set up is for every goal they complete they help someone else complete one of theirs.

How cool is that?

Check out the link above to see their list...some of their stuff is pretty cool!

Item #6- Get My Masters Degree

I noted in an earlier post that I had been accepted to graduate school. So, I officially start this week working on my Masters in Public Relations. [cue applause! lol]

Actually because of the weird schedule I don't actually have class until next week, but I did go to orientation on Monday and met some of my classmates. So far everyone seems nice and they come from a variety of career paths--I think one person works for the NBA, two or three work for various U.S. Congressmen etc. etc. but that's Washington for you.

Anyway, despite the fact that I know this is going to kick my ass...I'm actually more excited about this now than before. I found out some really great caveats come with this program...for one there's a possibility that I may score a trip to London with one of the courses I want to take over the summer. Secondly, as it turns out one of my professors works at one of my favorite places--National Geographic, so depending on how the class goes there may be some opporunities found in that. If all goes right [cross fingers] I will officially knock this goal off my list next year.

Changes!

Six days in...2010...hey that rhymes! lol

Well as you can see a) I'm back! lol

b)I made some minor decor changes to the blog. I may experiment some with the colors/background and such...so heads up.

Change is good.

And speaking of...

I am making a few MAJOR changes to the blog this year...

First...(drumroll)

...

I'm bringing in a new blogger!

TTYBYD will soon become a two (wo)man operation. I will introduce her soon--(I'm helping her get set up in blogger)

So why the new addition? It's simple... accountability. Plus she's absolutely hysterical, but seriously...

We had an interesting discussion today about goals and realized...hey! it's easier when you have someone else to not only motivate you but hold you accountable for reaching the goals. This will also be a huge help to me since I start school again next week.

Change is good right?

and #2...I'm going to (at least when I can) start video blogging. This actually is timed to coincide with one of my grad school courses (I'm taking a class in digital media and content management).

So that's the first round of things I have in store...

I may have some more surprises around the corner.

Hello 2010

Greetings all from:

After literally crisscrossing the country I suppose I should post...

Well, the holidays are over (well almost for me...I have two more days left of vacation). I survived...so I supposed that's one goal accomplished already...lol.

We have a big year ahead of us!

I realize for most (me most definitely included) the last year was very rough, very trying. I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I would have liked, but some things were done.

Progress is progress I suppose.

To tell the truth I didn't come into 2010 feeling immediately optimistic. Four days in and I'm already feeling eh...

But not to worry...

I didn't make any resolutions this year, because Ive leaned that more often than not, like with most people, they get broken. I had to laugh when my mom told me that she found her list from 2005...and guess what?? same goals as this year. That never ever however precludes us from goal setting. I mean isn't that the whole point here?

So instead of asking what your resolutions are, I want to know what your goals are.

What ONE big thing do you want to accomplish this year?
